Ingredients:

  • 1 medium French bread loaf (or Italian loaf)
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon mustard
  • 0.5 cup onion, diced
  • 0.67 cups evaporated milk
  • 0.5 cups cracker crumbs
  • .75 teaspoon Accent seasoning
  • 1 each egg
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons pepper
  • 8 ounces Cheddar Cheese, shredded

Directions:

Cut the bread in half lengthwise. In a large bowl mix all ingredients other than cheese and bread. Lay bread on foil. Divide the meat mixture among the two layers of bread and spread. Wrap and pull together the foil so that the bread is wrapped in foil, but not the meat portion. It should be open on top (See pictures below). Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Garnish with cheese and return to oven for 5 minutes longer. Allow to cool a few minutes, slice, and serve.

Freezing Directions:

Follow the above instructions taking a few extra steps. Before placing the meat mixture on the bread cover the bread with a layer of plastic wrap. Now lay out meat mixture on top of the bread. Add the cheese on top. Wrap the plastic wrap up and around meat mixture. Now lay out another layer of plastic wrap and lay the bread and meat mixture on top of that. Wrap that sheet up and around the bread and wrapped meat mixture. Now wrap all of that in foil. To serve: Unwrap all parts. Place frozen meat mixture on top of the frozen bread, removing the plastic wrap. Place inside the foil and leave an opening at the top. Bake at 350 for 1.5 hours or until meat is heated through. Slice and serve.
